Gloom Busting!

Are you tired of the tabloids dominating and dictating the mood of the country? This blog was created to provide an antidote to the doom and gloom. Here you can find inspiration, motivation and education. It is dedicated to those interested in personal development and those who want to learn how to tap into their full potential. So when you find your attitude slipping and you feel overwhelmed by all the negative, come and check in here for an injection of positive.

For a few short weeks in the summer of 2012 something remarkable happened. Britain was united in a way that has rarely been seen. The Olympic spirit transformed the nation! With its "Inspire a Generation" mission statement, outstanding sporting endeavour and an army of friendly volunteers, we had for a short period of time, a real sense of community and togetherness.

In London, people even smiled and talked to each other! The palpable "feelgood factor" even converted the anti Olympic lobby and pessimistic gloom merchants who predicted transport chaos and probable security issues. Even the notoriously fickle British weather played its part in ensuring a brief period of magnificence. It became a national party that nobody wanted to end, but sadly, end it did and the debate became one of legacy. Would it "inspire a generation"? Certainly we hope that it will encourage more people to get active and take part in sport but more than that would it be possible to re capture the spirit of inspiration? The Olympics showed that day in day out 80,000 people would gather to cheer and support not just our own athletes but those of every nation. They created a sporting environment that allowed and encouraged Olympians and Paralympians to produce world beating best performances, the power of being inspired and encouraged.

The British press for a short time forgot their raison d'etre of filling the papers and TV coverage with doom and gloom. Every day was a day for front page coverage of gloriously uplifting performances. We even forgot we were supposed to be depressed and in the teeth of the world's worst recession. Is it possible to somehow recreate those feelings? When it all ended and Britain got back to "normal" with front pages being dominated by death, destruction and financial meltdown, I can't be the only one who wished it could be different? And it can.

We create our world. We create our reality. The Stock Markets are fragile and can be talked up or down. "Confidence" is the critical word. If we can talk and think our way into recession (and it's been clearly demonstrated that we can) why don't we focus on more positive outcomes for ourselves?

"We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts we make the world" - Buddha
